Dear Friends and Family,
Merry Christmas! We missed writing our update letter last year even
though we had a great time making our video. So this year we’re sending
both! Here is our update:
Edie,
our baby, is 8 years old. She was baptized this year, and now also gets
to go to Girl’s Achievement Day activities with her big sister. She is
getting too big to carry, and too big to hold on a lap for too long. She
is funny and quick-witted, loves tetherball, reading, math, and playing
school teacher. She is a loving, giving little person and is becoming
so, so grown up.
Hailey
is 11 going on 21. She’d live on her own if she could, so she could do
everything her own way. Her continuing biggest love is reading.
Devouring books left and right; she either has too many she wants to
read, or nothing to read because she just finished them all. Her other
interests are playing clarinet in the school band, singing in the school
choir, and participating in Destination Imagination. She is also excited
to attend Science Camp in February for 5 days, and earned all the
tuition fees through a read-a-thon. Her teachers continue to praise her
intelligence and willingness to be helpful. She is an amazing young
lady.
Kolby
is 13. Yes, we have a teenager. And, yes, though it is a mild case, he
definitely has teen-itis. The other day he complained of being tired
enough times in the morning, that Amy told him to go back to bed, and he
slept all day. He is constantly hungry, a big tease to his sisters, and
kind of a punk sometimes. However,
he is still such a great kid that we will take his mild teen-itis, no
problem. Kolby still plays trombone, has branched out into drums this
year, and still works hard in Boy Scouts. He spends most of his free
time washing cars and doing any other odd job that comes up, because he
has a goal to earn $2600 by May so he can attend a ten day historical
tour of the East coast. He is noticing that as he gets older life is
getting busier.
Amy is the awesome art teacher that she always wanted
to be. She knows she has reached this status because nearly all 300
students on her campus know her name and say hi to her in the halls. Not
only that, but students want to hang out in her room during lunch. Yes,
she has arrived. When she is not at work, catching up with things at
home, or helping our kids, she likes to bead, read, work in the yard,
and be helpful to other people.
Dacy is actually not quite as busy as he has been in
past years. We’re not talking TV and bon-bons all day, but he does work
from home again doing what he loves; video production and graphic
design. He has developed 15 new websites in the past few months. With
Amy gone from 7 to 4 Tues-Fri, he also taxis kids, grocery shops, does
laundry and occasionally makes dinner. The family is ever-so-grateful
for his budding Mr. Mom skills.
We hope this year has brought blessings to all of you. We
have definitely seen the Lord’s hand in our lives.
